Configure Remote Desktop Manager Options and Default Settings

Create a uniform Remote Desktop Manager experience for your users by configuring options and creating default settings.


The options in File – Options configure application settings (e.g. updates, User Interface, installation paths).


Configure these options before making a custom installation package so Remote Desktop Manager is consistent across the team.


There is a group policy to block user access to File Options.



There are many options but we've highlighted two that might interest you: disabling auto-updates and configuring the installation path.


Auto Update

Remote Desktop Manager automatically prompts to install updates by default. If you do not want users to receive notifications, turn off this option.


1. Go to File – Options.

2. In General, select Application Start.

3. In the Auto Update section, uncheck Enable check for updates.


Installation Path

Customize this path if the third-party applications you use with Remote Desktop Manager are installed on a centralized path, for example on a shared network or drive.

You can also set customized paths for templates, add-ons, screenshots, documents and logs.


1. Go to File – Options.

2. Click Path.

3. Click Configure Installation Path.

4. Select the application and enter the custom path.

Default Settings

Create default settings for specific types of entries. When a user creates a new entry the settings you configured will be set by default. It does not force the options.


The default settings are saved locally. To ensure everyone on the team has access to the same settings, configure the default settings before making the custom installation package.


1. Click File – Templates.

2. In the Default settings section, select the category of entry you want to configure.

In this example we choose, Session for remote connections and RDP (Microsoft Remote Desktop).

3. There are many options you can configure. Some popular options for RDP entries include:


a) Display: Choose how the session opens (e.g. embedded).

b) Credential: Choose which credentials to use (e.g. Credential repository, inherited).


Local resources:

c) Keyboard: Choose how to use window-key combinations.

d) Hard drive: Share your hard drive during sessions.
